The European Commission has launched a large-scale Research and Innovation Action to strengthen European capabilities in frontier AI. The topic places particular emphasis on computational efficiency and safe-by-design advanced AI. It also envisages AI agents that act as safety evaluators themselves.
The topic (HORIZON-CL4-2027-04-DIGITAL-EMERGING-11) has a budget of €44 million, and one project is expected to be funded. The call opens on 17 November 2026, and the deadline is 18 March 2027.
