In the summer semester 2024, the Minds, Media, Machines Integrated Graduate School (MMMIGS) will offer a seminar for doctoral candidates who have recently started their doctorate. The first session will discuss a range of useful skills for new doctoral students. These include tips on settling into a new workplace (and new city), discussing mutual expectations with your supervisor, documenting results, developing a protocol for data storage and finding a work-life balance. In addition, the basics of time and self-management are discussed. Starting with the formal requirements for obtaining a doctoral degree at the University of Bremen as rough milestones, strategies and tools for monthly, weekly and daily time planning will be introduced. Tips for prioritizing tasks and scheduling self-care routines and sufficient sleep are also provided.
