We are delighted to share with you a full-day, free, and open-to-all workshop on “Contemplating the Future of Queer AI” on August 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Cartesium Rotunde and hybrid via Zoom.
One of the highlights will bekeynote speeches by
* Morgan Klaus Scheuerman, PhD – Research Scientist at Sony AI – “Envisioning Gender: The Social Production of Identity in Computer Vision”
* Dr. Sabine Weber – Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bamberg – “Queer NLP: Past, Present, and Future”
However, the workshop will also feature 15 short presentations of contributed work throughout the day, covering both Queer AI topics and general AI topics—some of which have been previously published—presented by queer researchers (the topics are diverse and range from robotics to computer vision to NLP).
We will also hold focus groups, where we hope to shape future research initiatives,and provide opportunities for networking.
The event will kick off IJCAI for us and is therefore scheduled immediately before it begins.
In fact, for those of you registered for IJCAI, we will be holding an official IJCAI workshop on August 15 at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Diversity & Inclusion Program, featuring additional presentations and a session on how to organize inclusive conferences led by Andrea Sipos, PhD ( co-founder of Queer in Robotics & DLR)
