Workshop: Contemplating the Future of Queer AI

We are delighted to share with you a full-day, free and open-to-all, workshop on “Contemplating the Future of Queer AI” on August 14th from 09:00 – 17:00, in the Cartesium Rotunde and hybrid via Zoom.

As a highlight, we will have Keynotes by

* Morgan Klaus Scheuerman, PhD – Research Scientist at Sony AI – “Envisioning Gender: The Social Production of Identity in Computer Vision”

* Dr. Sabine Weber – Postdoctoral Researcher at Universität Bamberg – “Queer NLP: Past, Present, and Future”

However, the workshop will also feature 15 short contributed work presentations throughout the day, both on Queer AI topics and on general, partially previously published, AI topics presented by queer researchers (topics are diverse, and span robotics to vision to NLP).

We will also have focus groups, where we wish to shape upcoming research endeavors, and opportunities to network.

The event will kick-off IJCAI for us and is thus scheduled immediately prior to its start.

In fact, for those of you registered for IJCAI, we will continue with an official IJCAI workshop on August 15th at 14:00 as part of the Diversity & Inclusion Program, with further presentations and a session on how to organize inclusive conferences by Andrea Sipos, PhD (Co-Founder Queer in Robotics & DLR)

We are welcome to everyone, so please share this with anyone who might be interested: fellow colleagues, students, or friends.

Should you be interested, we would appreciate if you could fill out the quick registration using the link on the flyer, so that we can have a better estimate to plan the focus groups. The Zoom link will also be distributed on this basis.

Best,

Martin Mundt, Pranav A, and Andrea Sipos
