CAVECORE Bremen School 2026: EU Doctoral Network on Reliable Cognitive Robots Meets in Bremen

From 24 to 28 August 2026, the University of Bremen hosted the CAVECORE Bremen School. The school brought together doctoral candidates, researchers and partners from CAVECORE, an EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network coordinated in Bremen by Prof. Dr. Nico Hochgeschwender.

Launched in September 2025, CAVECORE (“Continuous, Automated Validation, and Evaluation of Cognitive Robots in Open-Ended Environments”) trains the next generation of researchers to make robots that learn and adapt in the real world safe and reliable by design. The network combines robotics and AI with automated testing and evaluation. It unites academic and industrial partners across Europe, with applications in production, logistics and maritime robotics.

During the week in Bremen, participants took part in training sessions, lab visits and doctoral presentations. The school closed with sessions on validating domestic robots and on ethical decision-making for cognitive robots.
